Degree Structure

Integrative Studies majors complete all the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, including 120 semester hours (at least 30 must be taken at UNT), 42 advanced semester hours (24 advanced must be taken at UNT), all General University Requirements and all University Core and College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences requirements. Instead of the usual major/minor format, Integrative Studies majors choose three self-selected fields of study.

The three self-selected fields are designed to ensure a broad range of academic endeavors consistent with the overall philosophy underlying a major in Integrative Studies.

Bachelor of Science with a Major in Integrative Studies Degree Requirements:

• University Core
• College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Requirements
  • 6 advanced hours for BS Other Course Requirements (Cannot go toward the major)- see handout
    or Foreign Language (through 2050/Intermediate II Level) can be subbed for this requirement
• 42 Advanced hours (3000-4000 level courses)
• 120 overall hours
• Major Requirements
  1. 36 hours in 3 fields of study (at least 9 hours in each field must be advanced).
  2. One field must come from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS).
  3. Students cannot complete 2 fields from the same College or School with the exception of CLASS.
  4. Students are responsible for course pre-requisites, but not pre-major courses.
  5. Courses cannot apply toward both an Integrative Studies field and a minor or a double major/degree.
  6. Grade of "C" or better required in all courses used in the 3 fields.

Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Integrative Studies Degree Requirements:

  • Foreign Language (through 2050/Intermediate II Level)
• Major Requirements
  1. 36 hours in 3 fields of study (at least 6 hours in each field must be advanced).
  2. One field must come from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
  3. Students cannot complete 2 fields from the same College or School with the exception of CLASS.
  4. Students are responsible for course pre-requisites not pre-major courses.
  5. Courses cannot apply toward both an Integrative Studies field and a minor or a double major/degree.
